SUMMARY : The Chair Assembler / Upholtery Tech is responsible for assembling fine dining / office chairs on our production line. Part of that assembly process will include upholstering the back, seat and arm cushions for the chairs. Fabrics used on the product line will vary but some experience with real leather & faux leather is a plus. 

 

SCHEDULE: 1st Shift 7:00AM - 4:30PM Monday-Thursday / 7:00AM - 2:00PM Friday / overtime as needed

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembles chair frames using basic hand tools.
  • Upholsters seat and back sections of the chairs during the assembly process.
  • Works closely with Engineering group to help improve design and assembly/upholtery processes.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assembly area and work station.
  • Maintains upholstery equipment.
  • Monitors necessary upholstery supplies and request replenishment when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Precise measuring and strong math skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work independently or on a team
  • Self-directed

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Prefer 1-3 years of Furniture Upholstery experience.
  • Must have experience using basic handtools (screwdiver, wrench, sockets etc.). 
  • Must have some experience with battery operated & pneumatic (air) power tools.
  • Must understand and have experience reading a measuring tape.
  • Sewing / seamstress experience a plus.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Must be able to read and write simple lists.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
